Opportunity details -
Dundee Play Rangers support children to play out in their own parks and by taking lunchtime sessions at schools in the area. We facilitate free play and provide resources and ideas to encourage exciting, imaginative and creative play opportunities for pre-school to 13 year olds. We are not childcare provision, but we offer parents’ reassurance and children an environment within their local community where they can be physically active, learn, develop and grow. Play Ranger sessions are open access; children are free to come and go as they please, and take place outdoors in all weathers. Play Rangers work in a person centred free play way, activities undertaken at sessions are child led and vary including: Den Building using e.g. tarpaulin, rope, cardboard, pegs, sticks., Art & Crafts using the natural environment; bark/leaf rubbing, drawings, Imaginative/creative play; e.g. using cardboard boxes, tyres to make boats, cars and anything a child may think of, Challenging Play; making obstacle courses, balancing games, Water Play; using guttering & pipes, slides, tarpaulin, Traditional games including parachute play, dodgeball, skipping, hula hoops.
Organisation aims and objectives -
Leisure and Culture Dundee provide leisure & sport, library and cultural services across the city of Dundee. Leisure and Sport provide a wide range of both wet and dry side activities for citizens of all ages and abilities across the city, at Swim and Sports Centres open to the public. We have an extensive programme aimed at children aged 0 -12 years and their families, including gymtime, dance, sports specific, aquatic and Play Rangers programmes.
Wednesday & Thursday morning and afternoon
An interest in sports and outdoor activity, experience working with children or in a sports capacity.
