Supporting service users with dementia & their carers with gardening tasks at our allotment. Maintaining raised beds, patio area and veg plot. Encouraging participants to get green fingered, supporting their efforts & socialising.
This opportunity is to bring the benefits of outdoors and gardening to our service users and their carers at our allotment, located on the slopes of the Law. The plot has raised beds, vegetable plot and patio area, where service users can grow a variety of crops/flowers to harvest. The location benefits from excellent views and fresh air and the patio area is ideal to be utlisied for creating container gardens and also for well-being, by enjoying the natural surroundings. Volunteers would be key in supporting the upkeep of the allotment, along with supporting service users with gardening tasks and roles. The allotment has a good layout and there is scope for various gardening activities. This outdoor space has the potential along with gardening for multi uses for the well-being of service users. The allotment is accessible from Law Road (lower gate) and is adjacent to The High Kirk; the terrain underfoot is manageable.
