The work undertaken by The James Hutton Group is right at the top of the global agenda tackling problems such as the impact of climate change and threats to food and water security. To support the delivery of our scientific colleagues we have a range of roles ranging from shepherds to IT analysts. Currently our Operations Group has a new vacancy for a Business and Administration Modern Apprentice.
This is a 2 year appointment during which time, as well as gaining valuable practical experience, you will work towards Business and Administration Level 2 at Dundee and Angus College. Upon successful completion of year 1, your salary will increase to the Living Wage (currently £16,835).
This post will be based in Invergowrie; there may be a requirement for occasional travel to Aberdeen.

What might a typical day in this job look like?
You will work with the Communications, IT and HR departments giving you the opportunity to gain a variety of experience.
What will I learn?
You will have some regular responsibilities such as covering reception, arranging meetings and ensuring filing is up to date and meets our legal obligations, as well as getting involved in projects and arranging events.
What qualification or qualities are required?
To deliver effectively in this role you must have (or expect to get) 3 National 5 qualifications, one of which must be in English and the others in a relevant subject area e.g. Administration, Business Management or Computing. You should be competent with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, as well as social media. Having good communication, organisation and customer service skills is important, as is the ability to be trusted with confidential information. Finally you must be able to work to instruction and produce accurate work on time but be able to show initiative and come up with ideas.
Minimum of National 5 in English and a further 2 relevant subjects at National 5 (or equivalent) e.g. Administration, Computing, Business Management, Accounting and Finance.
Use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
