We are looking to recruit 2 individuals to join our Graduate Apprenticeship Programme across the Firm as Student Surveyors in late August/ September 2018. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain on the job experience while studying simultaneously and earn money while you learn.
What might a typical day in this job look like?
As a Student Surveyor at Graham + Sibbald you will shadow experienced colleagues on site visits, valuations and property inspections. You will assist fellow colleagues where required by maintaining records on a central database, carrying out research, as well as assisting in the preparation of reports/ application and supporting documents.
No two days are the same. Surveying is more than an office based job and you will often be out on site meeting clients.
What will I learn?
You will be enrolled into the Graduate Apprenticeship Construction and Built Environment Framework Programme at Napier University, working towards your Graduate Apprenticeship BSc (Hons) Construction and The Built Environment (Real Estate). The course itself encompasses block release for 2 weeks, 3 times a year in conjunction with on the job training at Graham + Sibbald over a period of 4 years.
Surveying is a constant learning process. Once you have achieved your professional qualification (APC) there are many fields in Surveying that you can become involved in. Candidates will receive ample training opportunities to gain knowledge and experience from across the business and will be closely mentored by a wealth of experienced employees.
What qualification or qualities are required?
You must have 4 Highers (2 B's + 2 C's) with Nat 5 minimum C in English and Maths.
Knowledge of and interest in the Property industry is desired, as well as good organisational, time-keeping and communication skills. Basic PC skills are required (Word/ Excel/ Outlook/ PowerPoint). Awareness of the importance of accuracy and meeting deadlines is essential.
