POSITION TYPE: Part Time
HOURS: 35.00 hours per week
This 2 year Modern Apprenticeship is based within the Learning Disability teams, working part time, 35 hours per week. The Modern Apprentice Scheme is focused to target high youth unemployment in the Dundee Area and the funding for training is only available for candidates aged 16 to 19. Please ensure, if you are applying for a Modern Apprentice post, that you are between the ages of 16 to 19. You will be asked to bring proof of age with you if you are invited for an interview.
You will have one National 5 in English at grade A/B and three National 4 qualifications, or NC in Care, or equivalent.
You will undertake duties concerned within the operation of the Learning Disability provision whilst adhering to the Scottish Social Services Council, Codes of Practice and The Care Inspectorate, Health and Social Care Standards.
You will be able use your own initiative and working in a team, have good verbal and written communication skills, planning and organisational skills, be IT literate with knowledge and understanding of confidentiality. You will also be able to work various shift patterns, including evenings and weekends, and be committed and enthusiastic towards completing full Modern Apprenticeship and to achieving SVQ 3 in Social Care and Health at SCQF level 7. This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Dundee City Council. You will be required to register with the Scottish Social Services Council within a specified timescale.
